Analysis
The ruling FRELIMO party and its candidate Daniel Chapo secured a landslide win in the disputed 9 October general election. Chapo secured 65.1% of the popular vote and FRELIMO won 171 out of 250 parliamentary seats amid credible allegations of vote-rigging by opposition runner-up Venâncio Mondlade of the PODEMOS party.
